Wine Tasting - Cabernet Sauvignon
Name: Estrella
Variety: Varietal - Cabernet Sauvignon
Region: California
Country: USA
Year: 2014
Price: $17, on sale for $5.95
Winery review: Bright medium dark garnet color. Fruity, creamy, attractive aromas and flavors of berry and cherry custard pies, watermelon, and chocolate and floral honey with a silky, vibrant, fruity medium body and a smooth, interesting, medium-length spiced blueberries and cherries and vanilla custard finish with soft tannins and light oak. A very smooth, charming, and fruity cabernet crowd pleaser.
My review: I enjoyed this wine but not enough to purchase it. I found it to be dry tasting with a stinging after taste probably due to a peppery or spicy taste.

First Blog Assignment!!!
Personally, I have had a lot of experience with wine. My dad is hispanic and so drinking wine has been embedded into aspects of his culture as well as my own. For as long as I can remember, I would always see family members accompanying their meals with a glass of red wine. At a young age I was offered a taste and slowly began to develop a love for red wine.
My dad has educated me a decent amount about what wines go with which meals and how to properly taste wine. Now that I am 21, I enjoy going to vineyards with him and eating a whole loaf of bread with some brie. I prefer more of the sweet reds as some of the stronger ones tend to taste bland to me. However, when I find a wine I do like, I always enjoy a healthy pour. I also enjoy white wine but I find sweet whites such as some moscatos to be too sugary. However, a riesling or pinot grigio will do the trick!
In terms of this course, I hope to become even more knowledgable on the things I already know, as well as learn new things. Wine has increased in popularity and I want to be able to express my knowledge for it when I am at a dinner party or out with family. I hope to also outsmart my dad as he thinks he knows everything about wine, which he honestly might. I am excited for this course and looking forward to learning!
